How to add a countdown timer to Moosend

Moosend’s editor has a Timer item that counts to one date for everyone. When you need a deadline per subscriber in an automation, a timer that resets every day, or the same countdown on your website, a tikio timer drops into an HTML item as one image tag.

Design your countdown in tikio

Create a timer in the tikio editor: pick colors, fonts, labels and the languages you need. What you see in the editor is exactly what lands in the inbox — the timer is delivered as a regular animated image.

Get the code

Click Get code, choose “In an email”, pick how the countdown works — until a date, a personal timer per subscriber, or repeating on a schedule — and copy the code. The link stores the timer, so you can change the deadline any time, even after sending: emails already sent pick it up within minutes.

Insert the timer into your Moosend campaign

In the campaign editor, under Items, drag an HTML item into your layout, click it and paste the snippet below into the HTML content field. Personalization tags inside the URL are replaced per recipient when the campaign is sent.

Per-recipient evergreen deadlines

Use #recipient:email# as the recipient key — Moosend does not document a subscriber ID tag. Each subscriber then gets their own deadline from their first open. A custom field holding your own ID works too and keeps addresses out of the URL.

Moosend’s built-in timer vs tikio

Moosend has its own countdown block. If one fixed date for everyone is all you need, use it — it is already in your editor. tikio is for the rest: personal deadlines in automations, timers that reset on local time, and deadlines you can still fix after sending.

Evergreen countdown timer in Moosend automations

In tikio, click Get code, choose In an email and pick Personal timer. Set how long each subscriber gets, choose Other as your platform and enter #recipient:email# in the Subscriber ID merge tag field. Paste the code into the email inside your Moosend automation — every subscriber gets their own countdown from their first open.

Why not just use Moosend’s Timer item?

For one fixed date, do. It counts to the same moment for every recipient, so it cannot give each subscriber in an automation their own window, reset every day, or change after sending.

Can I change the deadline after the campaign is sent?

Yes. The tikio link stores the deadline — edit it on the link page and emails already sent pick it up within minutes.

Does it need a Moosend integration?

No. It is one image tag in an HTML item — no app, no API key.
