After zero and smart links

The deadline is frozen in the email once it's sent. What the timer does at zero and where clicks go are not — they live in the link's settings and can be changed any time.

When the countdown reaches zero

  • Show 00:00:00 — the timer stays and shows zeros. This is the default.
  • Hide the timer — nothing is shown in its place.
  • Show another image — for example a “This offer has ended” banner you host. Clearing the image address switches back to zeros.

This applies to the email image and the website embed alike. Recurring and count-up timers never reach zero, so the setting doesn't apply to them.

Smart link

A timer can be clickable, and the destination can depend on whether it is still running:

  • Before it ends — usually the offer.
  • After it ends — usually a “this offer has closed” page or your shop.

With a smart link set, the email code comes wrapped in a link automatically. Website embeds are not wrapped: a click inside an iframe never reaches a surrounding link, so put the smart link on a button next to the timer instead. Addresses must start with http:// or https://.

Pausing and deleting

Pausing a link hides the timer everywhere at once, including emails already delivered — the emergency stop for a wrong date or a pulled discount. It can be switched back on.

Deleting a link is permanent and breaks every email sent with it. Prefer pausing unless you really want the record gone.
