Klaviyo flows
How do I add an evergreen countdown timer to a Klaviyo flow?
In short
Create a personal timer in tikio with the window you want — say 24 hours — and paste its code into the flow email. The code carries {{ person.id }}, so each profile gets their own countdown that starts at their first open and does not reset on reopen. One email in the flow serves every profile that enters it.
Why a fixed date does not work in flows
Flows send on the profile’s schedule, not yours: one shopper abandons a cart on Tuesday, another on Saturday. A countdown to a calendar date would give the first shopper five days and the second one hours — or show zeros to everyone who enters after the date. A flow needs a deadline that belongs to each person.
Set up the personal timer
In tikio, click Get code, choose In an email, pick Personal timer and set how long each subscriber gets. Choose Klaviyo as your platform and the code comes with Klaviyo’s profile ID tag already in place. Paste it into an HTML block in the flow email and wrap it in a link to the cart or offer if the code does not already do that.
<img src="https://t.tikio.io/e/a1b2.gif?uid={{ person.id }}" alt="Your cart is saved for 24 hours" width="480" style="border:0;max-width:100%;height:auto;" />Abandoned cart, welcome and browse abandonment
The same pattern fits every flow where people enter at different times. Abandoned cart: “We are holding your cart for 24 hours.” Welcome series: “Your 15% welcome code expires in 72 hours.” Browse abandonment: “Prices go back up in 48 hours.” Use one link per offer so each offer keeps its own window and its own statistics.
What to do when the window ends
On the link, choose what the timer shows at zero — zeros, nothing, or another image such as “This offer has ended” — and optionally set a smart link that sends clicks to a different page after zero. Both apply to emails already sent, so a shopper who opens the email a week later does not see a live offer that is gone.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Does the countdown start when the flow sends the email?
A personal timer starts at the profile’s first open, which for most flows is close to the send; Apple Mail fetches the image at delivery, so for those readers it effectively starts at send time. If the window must count from the send for everyone, create the link through the REST API or MCP with a deadline from the recipient and offset_seconds: 86400, and put {% now 'U' %} — unix seconds at send — into target= in the image URL. tikio adds the 24 hours.
Can I change the 24-hour window later?
Yes. Edit the timer on the link page — emails already sent pick up the new length within minutes. Windows already running are measured from the same first open.
Can the deadline come from a Klaviyo profile property instead?
Yes, through the API: create the link with a deadline that comes from the recipient and pass the date property as target= in the image URL. It must include a time zone. See the timer reference on the developers page.
